Legislative Report
November 4, 2026
Saskatchewan continues to make progress in strengthening health care, improving public safety and supporting residents through practical investments and legislative action. These initiatives reflect our government's commitment to building a strong and steady Saskatchewan where people can access the services they need, feel safe in their communities and plan confidently for the future.
One example of this progress can be seen in health care workforce growth. New data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information shows Saskatchewan now leads Canada in both pharmacist supply and pharmacist workforce rates. Between 2016 and 2025, the number of pharmacists in the province increased by nearly 17 per cent, helping improve access to primary care services in communities across Saskatchewan. Through the Patients First Health Care Plan, our government continues to expand scopes of practice, improve access to treatment and support the recruitment and retention of health professionals.
Investments are also being made to improve specialized health services. A new $4 million technology investment will support more than 2,500 patients through Saskatchewan's Provincial Kidney Health Program. The project will modernize electronic medical records used in kidney care, helping health care professionals access better information, improve care coordination and support better outcomes for patients across the province.
Keeping Saskatchewan communities safe remains a priority. The government recently introduced legislation aimed at strengthening Saskatchewan's response to human trafficking. Proposed changes would enhance reporting requirements for sectors that may encounter trafficking activity, strengthen police investigative tools and improve protections for victims. Human trafficking causes significant harm to individuals, families and communities, and our government remains committed to supporting prevention, awareness and enforcement efforts across the province.
Additional legislation has also been introduced to strengthen protections for first responders, police officers and victims of crime. Proposed amendments would provide quicker access to testing orders and results for individuals exposed to another person's bodily substances, while maintaining important privacy safeguards. These changes reflect ongoing collaboration with frontline responders and law enforcement agencies to support public safety.
Our government is also taking steps to protect Saskatchewan residents as they prepare for retirement. Amendments to pension legislation will ensure important legal protections continue to apply as new retirement income options become available. These changes provide greater flexibility while safeguarding retirement benefits for Saskatchewan families.
We will continue focusing on practical solutions that strengthen health care, improve community safety and support Saskatchewan residents at every stage of life. In an uncertain world, Saskatchewan remains strong, steady and growing. If you have any questions, please contact my office using the contact information below.
