Skills Canada Saskatchewan Competition
Mr. Jenson: — — Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Whether it’s computer animation or information technology or aesthetics, baking, aerospace technology, automobile technology, or welding or carpentry, skilled trades offer rewarding careers. And, Mr. Speaker, nowhere is that more evident than at the 2023 Skills Canada Saskatchewan competition held at Sask Polytech in Saskatoon on Friday, April 28th.
Over 200 competitors took part in the competition in 49 different secondary and post-secondary disciplines, and medals were presented to the top three in each category. Mr. Speaker, over 1,700 student visitors from high schools across the province attended the Skills Canada Saskatchewan competition and were able to experience first-hand the wide variety of trades that await them in the year ahead.
The trades, Mr. Speaker, are and always have been a great career option in this province. With multiple private sector agriculture processing facilities, resource development projects, more housing and more infrastructure investments, there is and will continue to be high demand for skilled tradespeople in Saskatchewan.
Mr. Speaker, each Skills Canada Saskatchewan competitor deserves recognition for their achievements at this provincial event, and we wish all of those who are moving on to the Skills Canada National Competition in Winnipeg from May 24th to 27th all the best as they display their knowledge and talents on the national stage. Go Team Saskatchewan. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
